We hope you make this a memorable time - we plan to join where possible

Sunday 29 september

cheasapeake bay and annapolis

Annapolis, capital of the United States after the Revolutionary War is rich in history, is a quaint town filled with history.  Located on the Cheasapeake Bay, a prime sailing location,  called by some the sailing capital of the world.

(What to see: U.S. Naval Academy, Maryland State House, Annapolis Maritime Museum and Park, Main Street – shopping, Watermark Tours, Mikes Crab House! etc.)

Monday 30 september

Craving nature

We are only 30 min away from the amazing Appalachian Trail.  The Shenandoah  Mountains National Park offer a variety of hikes,  or you can just drive down the Skyline.  Our favorite views are in the Shenandoah State Park.

Wednesday 2 October - 09pm

Washington - DC

Washington has so much to offer – one day may not be enough.  Here are our recommendations:
  • Visit the main sites:  Lincoln Memorial, Veteran’s Memorial, Korean War Memorial, White House, Jefferson Memorial, Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial,  end with the Capitol.
  • For a good eat walk up 7th street where you can find American and International Fair
  • Have time for a museum, we strongly suggest the Art Museum or the Natural History Museum.

Did not have time to see it all,  no worries,  we still got Friday. And for our DC guests,  always an opportunity to rediscover our Nations Capital.

Wednesday 2 October - 07pm

Out of towners - welcome dinner

Informal gathering at chez Erika & Stephan for a light dinner fair.  Locals also welcomed

Thursday 3 October

History and Wine - yes they mix

Enjoy a wonderful day exploring Virginia.  We will drive to historic Charlottesville, home of Thomas Jefferson.  On the way we will make a quick stop at another founding father’s home – James Madison.   We will see the University of Virginia,  if we are lucky we get our own “insider tour” from architecture student Isabella.  We will visit the food market and then head out to Virginia’s most prominent winery,  Barbourseville.

Friday 4 October

Feeling cultural

If you have not had enough of the incredible museums of DC,  we encourage a morning and early afternoon visit. Smithsonian museums have not cost and there are many to see: Air and Space (both in the city or close to Dulles Airport); 2 Art Galleries; the Portrait Museum;  Women in the Arts; National History; Natural History; and others.
